Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using BG-Zero (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Service Description

BG-Zero is a free, open-source AI-powered background removal tool. All image processing runs locally in your web browser. We do not upload, store, or access your images.

3. No Warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not guarantee accuracy, reliability, or availability of the Service. This is consistent with AGPL-3.0 Sections 15-17.

4. User Accounts

You may create an account to access certain features. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information during registration.

5. Prohibited Uses

You agree NOT to use the Service to:

• Process, create, or distribute child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
• Create deepfake content for defamation, fraud, or impersonation
• Process copyrighted images for commercial counterfeiting without authorization
• Conduct automated mass requests, DDoS attacks, or scraping against our servers
• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Circumvent security measures or abuse the Service infrastructure

6. User Content & Responsibility

You retain all rights to your images. BG-Zero does not claim any rights over your content — because we never receive it. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to process any images you upload.

7. Intellectual Property

The BG-Zero source code is owned by its contributors and licensed under AGPL-3.0. The BG-Zero name, logo, and branding are owned by the project maintainers.

8. AI Model Licenses

Different AI engines use models with different licenses. The Transformers.js engine uses RMBG-1.4 which is licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0 (non-commercial use only). Users are responsible for complying with model licenses. The rembg-web engine uses MIT-licensed models suitable for any use.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through account settings.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BG-Zero and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BG-Zero and its contributors from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Service.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong SAR, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Hong Kong.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users.
